Recovered lead idea

Post by metalsmith » Fri Sep 14, 2018 9:16 pm

I would like to suggest that any and all lead and other metals recovered be brought to the Clubhouse every week and an official weigh in be recorded along with the date. No one really knows the huge amount of toxic lead and other metals that we remove every year. If we are going to be tarnished by the imaginations of others who do not have our best interest at hearts we should record and tell the truth about it.
The State issues licenses to people/fishermen that they know are going to introduce toxic metals to the waterway in the form of sinkers that WE remove...for FREE.
There is nothing proven by any Agency that we do any harm to the fish or land or anything. We are reclaiming the rivers and streams by removing the toxins, we are helping to feed the fish by exposing nutrients in our work environment....So let's gather it up and get the information to the Sec. of the Interior and to the President.

Thanks for the reminder metalsmith. It's true that we clean a lot of trash out of the river, or did when we could dredge. Many CDFW comment meetings held previously had pictures from miners of lead sinkers and lures that had been recovered. Then there are always other kinds of trash also; hooks, glass, car batteries and more.
