Please keep post subjects to political issues that can or will relate to mining. This would include legislation and agency rules and regulations. Political issues such as presidential or state elections should not be posted unless they may have an impact on mining in general. Political issues can be...

Re: The River

As to the smoke, it's hard to say how long this smoke free condition will last. It has cleared up before only to come back strong again. Right now it has been clear of smoke for three days. I talked to a man in Yreka the other day that said he was coming back from back east and was in smoke all the ...

Re: Somebody has to be doing something

Thanks Mike. After swinging the GB2 for about 25 years now, it just comes natural. Jim, I didn't know you were finding such fine looking gold! If you need help moving a rock sometime, give me a shout. Thanks for the offer Harry, but like I said in that post, that was last summer. This year my leg a...

Re: Somebody has to be doing something

I have not been up there since last summer Mike. But when I was there the road was passable all the way to Negro Creek. It is gated beyond Negro Creek, private property. It should be OK since it is a county road and I see county pickups on it frequently. Also the guy that has private property has to...

Re: Somebody has to be doing something

OK here's the recount of my mining in an old hydraulic pit last summer. Even though the club motto is "miners helping miners", I am not going to reveal the location I was working. This is not because I am hoarding it to myself, anyone else can work there that finds it. I would personally like to see...

Re: Somebody has to be doing something

Now you guys did it. After posting that gold I just have to show off too. Although I have not done any kind of mining this summer because of my legs and feet, I did do some last summer and got what I consider an impressive result in an old hydraulic pit that is on a club claim. I'll post about it la...

Re: Somebody has to be doing something

That's what Steve Herschbach always said Harry. In order to find gold with a detector you have to get the coil over it. Sounds simple, but it is the hardest part, aside from patience, which I am weak on.

Re: Somebody has to be doing something

I was envious when I was in Alaska and saw you do that, I remain envious. That is a special example of what can be done with the right detector and patience. Patience might be defined as long hours learning what your machine is telling you and doing it in the right place. Thanks for posting the pic,...

Re: Somebody has to be doing something

You beat me to it Harry. Glad someone reads the FAQ's. Your post will help others.

Oh, btw, nice gold. Was the gold shown detected or some other way?
